EXTREME SPORTS CAMERA GEAR

About Us

Trunk Cover Shot ph: Jeff Agard

The Story

After a year and a half of skydiving and about 200 jumps, the founder decided to purchase his first camcorder. Getting a Bonehead Optik and a side mount, Trunk was ready to film... Right?

As with everyone in the industry, Trunk soon realized how easy it was to not have the camera in the right mode. "I swear we completed it!"

It didn't happen if there's no film!

Trunk decided to find a solution. Another manufacturer made a solution but Trunk being an Electrical Engineer by day trade, decided he could make a cleaner solution. Designing, testing and continuously refining based on the requests of the world's best videographers, Trunk came up with what is now known as the HyPeye. For the Arizona sun, he made it brighter, for the military he made it stronger, for the helmet manufacturer he made it smaller and for the videographer who hits his/her head on the door he got rid of the push button.

Simplicity is in its design. Just looking at its 5mm by 18mm size one can realize this is a cutting edge product.

Get Hypoxic LLC was founded when it introduced the HyPeye - Camcorder Status Indicator into the skydiving market. More products and markets are soon to follow.

So why Get Hypoxic?

In any sport where altitude is a factor, people can get what is called Hypoxia. Hypoxia is caused when a person is exposed to low amounts of oxygen for a period of time. Some people's bodies can't function at this lower level and therefore become ill. Early signs show up as colors distorting, nails turning blue and general confusion. Hypoxia tends to be more prevalent at nights and particularly in skydiving, during night jumps. As per the USPA (United States Parachute Association) Night jump training involves reviewing the effects of hypoxia and the tell tail signs.

One late evening, the instructor used Trunk's lost gaze as a reference to what a hypoxic person looks like. Everyone got a kick out of it. From then on, Trunk was used as the poster boy for Hypoxia. The term Get Hypoxic eventually was coined and the company was born!
